Details: A company called Lane Construction is taking on the work. They've started the project with by drainage and tunnels. They'll also knock down a bridge over 14th Street soon.

The main project plans include:

  • Constructing a new bridge for drivers going from south I-275 to east I-4.
  • Change how people get off I-4 to Ybor City/East Tampa.
  • Make the ramp from west I-4 to north I-275 two lanes wide.
  • Make the ramp from west I-4 to south I-275 three lanes wide.

Why it matters: Even though the roadwork will cause delays now, the project is expected to make transport in the area much smoother in the long run.

What’s next: People traveling through the areas should expect delays during the day and closures at night from 11 pm to 5 am.

Construction is expected to wrap up by 2027.
